Kinver take the lead in snooker league

KINVER Constitutional A took advantage of a bye for their closest rivals, Brierley Hill Snooker and Pool A, to move back to the top of the Stourbridge and District Snooker League Premier Division with a 5-0 victory against Pockets SC A.
There were comfortable wins for Jason Hickman, Darren Oakes and debutant John Sloper.
Andrew Highfield made a break of 45 to take his frame, but James Hill was extended to a re-spotted black to pip John Betton in a hard-fought win, which takes him to the top of the averages with 14/16 victories.
Ray Stokes, Milan Krstanovic, with a break of 69, and Lee Washbrook, in the decider, took the match for Hot Shots, easing them into fifth place, two points behind the Police with a game in hand.
Snooks A held onto fourth place with a 3-2 success against their B team. Chris Southall, Rob Howen and Chris Crumpton won for them with Wayne Bentley and Jon Bates replying.
Brierley Hill Snooker and Pool B pulled five points clear of the relegation zone as Luke Garland, Adam Kensett, Jack Trueman and Paul Dunkey combined to defeat the bottom team, while Netherton Liberals for whom Richard Barnsley claimed a consolation point.
Their task was made easier as the Brierley Hill C team lost 5-0 at Amblecote Institute A in their bid to climb the table. Rob Clark made a 42 break and Steve Mason a 55 for Amblecote.
Paul Charm and Stuart Amos won for Bearwood Cons, now 12 points above the bottom two after some impressive results, but Norton Social A beat them 3-2 thanks to Ashley Aston with a 47 break, Rob Pitt (48 break) and Justin Donoghue.
There was no game for First Division leaders Stourbridge Institute A as their lead was cut to eight points after Pockets SC B beat Kinver Constitutional B 3-2 in a well-contested match.
Gavin Evans, Tony Kidd and Greg Kneuss in the decider, won for Pockets with Rob Taylor and Jon Perry taking a frame each for Kinver.
Pockets held onto second-place as Kingswinford Snooker Centre suffered a 3-2 defeat on the tables of Dibdale SC.
John Cowan and Paul Ross gave Kingswinford a great start, but Wayne Powell, Dave Timmins and Alan Checketts edged the match for Dibdale.
Kingswinford RBL A won 4-1 on the tables of Amblecote Institute C with Anthony Davies making a 34 break, lifting them into a share of third place and 11 points behind the leaders.
Amblecote RBL’s 4-1 victory against Kinver’s C team enabled them to reach sixth place, only three more points adrift.
Mick Cook made it 14 wins in 16 frames with a black ball win for Amblecote Institute B, but although Sam Harrison also won for the Institute.
Kingswinford Cons A took the honours 3-2 thanks to Wayne Whitmore, John Cartwright and Graham Pearson.
There was no change at the top of the Second Division as the top three all registered narrow 3-2 victories.
The leaders, Stourbridge Institute C beat Amblecote Institute D, Baggeridge Social saw off Kingswinford RBL B and Brierley Hill Snooker and Pool D defeated Stourbridge Institute B.
