Heathens legend Hancock set for emotional return
9:27am Thursday 2nd February 2012

GREG Hancock will turn the clock back a staggering 23 years when he makes an emotional return to Dudley next month.
The World Champion, who started his career with Cradley in 1989, will be reunited with Heathens fans on Saturday March 17 for a special event at The Venue Conference and Banqueting Centre.
He will be joined by a host of former Heathens riders including Colin Pratt, Jan O Pedersen, Alan Grahame and Andy Grahame, Anthony Boyd and Mark Robinson. Scott Smith and Simon Cross have also been invited.
The Californian ace hasn’t made a public appearance in the area since the old Dudley Wood Stadium closed in 1995 and he is now based in Sweden during the season.
Hancock said: “I know what the Heathens name means to the people and they are just so passionate about their team.
“The Cradley days were special to me and to so many people. It will be nice to come back to England and to see my fans once again.”
Heathens chairman Nigel Pearson said: “Greg is coming across to the UK for Coventry’s Brandonapolis meeting on March 16 and thanks to Colin Pratt, our former manager, we are able to bring Greg back to the Black Country.
“Greg is a very busy man these days and rarely gets chance to come to the UK and it will be a very rare appearance for him back where it all started close to the old Dudley Wood.
“We’re expecting tickets to sell fast so I would urge supporters to get theirs quickly to avoid disappointment. We have booked The Venue in Dudley because we anticipate a high demand.”
Tickets for ‘An Evening with Greg Hancock and Friends’ are available at £10 and will be on a first-come-first-served basis for the show which starts at 8.30pm.
Tickets can be purchased at the club’s online shop at www.dudleyheathens.co or by sending a cheque payable to HSSC, 2 Caernarvon Way, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 2TR.
