Quigley signs Superbikes deal

BRIERLEY Hill racer Luke Quigley has completed a deal to race in the 2012 British Superbikes Championship.

Quigley has joined GBmoto Racing as he makes the step up from the Superstock series following an impressive 2011 which culminated in victory at Silverstone in the final race of the season.

The Honda-powered team are also stepping up from Superstock after three race wins last term and should be in good shape for a Superbikes series which has undergone several rule changes.

Stricter engine tuning limitations have been brought in with the intention of creating a more even playing field between teams with and without factory support.

Quigley revealed how he didn’t hesitate when team principal Mark Smith-Halvorsen made his offer.

He said: “You get nervous preparing to race but this winter has brought a different kind of pressure with interest from different teams.

“When Mark came with an offer to ride in Superbikes, well, it’s where I want to be.

“Every rider wants the best bike, in the best team, in the best possible championship, against the best riders.”

GBmoto Team manager Terry Liquorish added: “We have watched first hand just how well he can race."
