Church invite to 60th exhibition

Sedgley residents are being invited to take part in an exhibition celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The event, entitled ‘Sedgley’s Diamond 60’ is set to focus on 60 key events that shaped the way the village looks today and is being hosted by All Saints’ Church.

Andmembersof thepublic are being asked to put forward memories of one day in the last 60 years, which was important to them or to the area, for inclusion in the exhibition.

Event co-organiser, Martin Jones, said: “Some people may recall their first day atwork, ormoving into a new house. Others will rememberthe local impact of a national event. In my case, I’ve chosen the Suez crisis of 1956. I remember my father riding off to work on the back of a colleague’s motorbike. Nasser nationalised the Suez canal, Britain and France invaded Egypt, and petrol rationing meant dad couldn’t travel to work by car.”

The exhibition will run over the Jubilee weekend – June 2 until 5 – and will take place in the Parish Hall in Vicar Street.

To submit a memory, contact Martin, by calling 07947 068023 or emailing mmjones29@blueyonder.co.uk.
