1:58pm Thursday 2nd September 2010
A 71 YEAR-old man has died after being hit by a car in Dudley Wood.
The pensioner was walking along Dudley Wood Road at around 2.45pm yesterday, when he appeared to fall from the kerb into the road, where he collided with a passing Ford Fiesta car.
He was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.
His family have been informed and a family liaison officer is supporting them at this time.
A post mortem examination is expected to be carried out shortly, to determine the cause of death, as it is unclear if the man had been taken ill prior to the collision.
Police closed Dudley Wood Road from the junction of Saltwells Road and Pavilion Gardens while police made enquiries at the scene.
The road reopened at around 5.15pm.
Any witnesses to the incident are urged to contact Force Traffic at Wednesbury on 0345 113 5000.
