Dudley RAFA club granted new lease of life
3:30pm Thursday 2nd September 2010
A FORMER Dudley RAF club is set to be given a new lease of life as plans are approved for four apartments.
Members of Dudley Council's Development Control Committee unanimously voted in favour of the proposals, which will see the once thriving and popular Royal Air Force Association club in Dixons Green Road, converted into four self contained flats.
The early 19th century building, has lain empty and run down for many years, with planners welcoming a secured future for the building.
The applicants have proposed to alter the frontage of the building, which planners felt would be an "improvement" over the existing "inappropriate windows and porch", which will be removed and replaced with features more appropriate to the building.
The apartments are set to include living and kitchen areas, bathrooms and a double sized bedroom. One of the flats will also include a second bedroom and there will also be a shared garden and driveway.
