Crackdown success
1:00pm Thursday 29th July 2010

DUDLEY police pulled up 36 vehicles found to be flouting road rules during an ANPR operation in the town.
In a crime crackdown, officers, working alongside the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) used automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to target motorists driving past Cousins in Hall Street.
During the six hour operation, officers pulled up 36 vehicles and seized eight for having no insurance, made eight car owners remove illegal tints and issued written orders for three drivers to change their illegal number plates.
VOSA also examined 14 of the vehicles for roadworthiness.
Heading the operation, Sergeant Rich Narrowmore: "This was one of a series of operations being conducted across the borough. It produced a significant result in the number of vehicles seized, which we hope sends out a clear message.”
